11 Howard, a boutique hotel known for its minimalist and Scandinavian-inspired design is tucked on a narrow street in Soho. The building has the appearance of a cool, biker guy dressed in black leather with a pair of shades hiding a mysterious stare. It gives John Varvatos meets All Saints. I know that description was oddly specific, but it hopefully personifies the structure painting a vivid picture of the overall aesthetic that lies within its four walls. The property sits in the heart of Soho, walking distance from other neighborhoods like The Bowery, Little Italy and Chinatown. Whatever your heart desires is more than likely only a few blocks away when staying here. This quaint hotel, by New York City standards, packs a punch when it comes to design. The rooms are adequately-sized, once again, by New York City standards. The color palette is neutral and with leather headboards, accent lighting and finishes of brass and gold. The hallways are moody to say the least, offering minimal visibility into the corridors leading to your temporary habitat. Whether the not-so-subtle ode to the Red Light District is intentional, I cannot confirm, but the vibe that it gives is certainly seductive and alluring.

Dining options are plentiful from LA RUBIA located on the first floor. It has a more subdued atmosphere offering a variety of menu items plus an espresso and cocktail bar. In contrast the blond offers an extension of the hotels sensuality with dimly lit seating areas, lounge chairs and bar bites that are accompanied by the sounds of the nightly DJ’s that rotate throughout the week. Note: Come 10 p.m., entrance into the blond can only be guaranteed by reservation only. Plan accordingly. If you are looking for a place to simply relax, unwind, catch up or take a meeting, The Library is the spot for you. It is located on the 2nd floor and boasts wide, wood plank flooring, plastered walls and different seating vignettes offering work / play options for your every need. Need a quick break? Take a stroll down the steel staircase that is iconic to this hotel and step outside. You have plenty of distractions at your disposal.
