The State Fair of Texas has rolled in and left us behind in one fell swoop. Am I posting this blog post two months late? Yes. Does it bother me? Yes. Am I going to post it anyway? Yes. Just pretend it is early October. The weather is warm and muggy and the scent of fried food has filled the atmosphere once again. Big Tex’ contoured face is proudly displayed in the Texan sky while his ill-fitted Dickies jeggings drape across his flat frame. Listen, don’t shoot the messenger. I am just reporting the facts.
Whether you made it to the fair this year or missed it, one thing you will for sure remember and hear about is the food. Every year the sizzling of the deep fryers draws in thousands of guests eager to get a taste of the lates and most inventive fried foods around. Did this year disappoint? I happily ate my way through the fair this year to give you my opinion on which items to pass on and which items are must-try’s.
Consider this your guilt-free guide to help you eat your way through the State Fair of Texas.

Honorable mention to the $8 Coke, the $8 lemonade and the countless $2 bottled water that kept me hydrated during this culinary journey.
See y’all next year at the State Fair of Texas!
